Classic Car Overview

Own a piece of American automotive history today!

Up for
grabs is a 1959 Ford Fairline 500 Skyliner. Americas first retractable
hard top convertible and second ever mass-produced behind the 1938
Peugeot. Ford made the Skyliner between 1957 to 1959 with a total
production run of 48,394, with 1959 totaling around 12,500 total
produced. This car is set apart from the others with its factory hubcaps
still attached and the rare Continental kit"! This feature is an
extended bumper with a spare tire covered with decorative trim.

Body is in good condition overall. No rust anywhere and no known
fillers. Panels are solid on all sides. Paint is a good 10 footer with
no major issues. A good detail job may make it pop back to life.
Underneath all looks good, floor pan wise. Frame looks as one would
expect, surface rust but nothing major. Chrome and stainless steel will need to be addressed, all of it is there however it is pitting in areas. Windshield has a good size chip in it, as does the passenger window. Have contacted glass vendor and the pieces can be had for a reasonable price.

Engine: Trim tag
states this car was a 352 with a Ford-O-Matic transmission. I was able
to pull codes off of the block, heads, and intake. All codes match up and
I am lead to believe this engine is a 390. Date codes state it was
manufactured in 1966. I have not had a moment to get numbers on the
transmission. Mechanically everything works just as it should. Starts,
runs, and stops just as it should.

Interior. Overall the interior
is in good shape. Seats are not faded or torn, carpet is complete and
not faded.Dash paint is in great shape. The only cons are currently the
headliner and some panel pieces are pulled out to access the wiring for
the roof wiring. Also the chrome will need to be redone for a show
quality finish along with the white/ivory knobs and pieces.

roof: Currently the roof is not functional and needs to be gone
through. The inner workings are currently disassembled and will need to
be looked at. I believe  there are 2 bad relays that control the top
function and the trunk function to close them that are bad. I have a
shop manual that goes over a lot of troubleshooting the top and have
found various online videos that go over in detail how to repair
everything, I just have not had the time/desire to continue with this

Overall this is a great running/driving project car that
will turn heads everywhere you go! Drive it and enjoy it while you
continue to fix it up!

Asking 16,000 OBO! Motivated to sell to complete other projects!
